Accepting Entries for Teen Art Expo Contest 2015

 Location: Civic Center Library

Livermore Public Library is offering a unique opportunity for teens to share their artistic talent with local artists and the Livermore community. The library invites Livermore middle school and high school students to submit artwork on this year’s 2015 Teen Art Exposition & Contest theme: Impact! Make Your Mark with Art!

Livermore residents in grades 6-12 are encouraged to submit an original piece of art. Works eligible for exhibit are limited to 2D visual media in the following categories:
  • Paintings (watercolor or acrylics)
  • Drawings (pencil, pen, ink, or pastels)
  • Photography (digital or traditional film)
Details:
  • Open to Livermore residents in grades 6-12.
  • Artists may submit only one art piece, either as an individual or as part of a team, not both.
  • Submit art with Entry Form, Label, & Receipt.
  • Artwork must be framed and/or matted with a hanging system.
  • Submit entries to the Civic Center Library between March 2-27, 2015.
  • Art will be judged in each category at two levels:
    • Level 1: 6th-8th grade
    • Level 2: 9th-12th grade
  • Ribbons to be awarded for Best of Show, Best in Class, and Honorable Mention at the Artists' Reception on April 15, 2015.
  • Teen artwork will be on display (as space allows) in the Civic Center Library Art Gallery during the library's regular hours from April 1-April 30, 2015.

Toddler Storytime~#1 @CC

 Location: Civic Center Children's Storytime Room
Have fun singing, dancing, reading, and listening as we encourage early literacy during storytime for toddlers (walkers to age 3)! This is the first of two toddler storytime sessions on Mondays at Civic Center Library. The later one is at 11:00am. 

Please note: seating is limited, we encourage early arrival for a free ticket to enter the event.

Homework Hangout @ RN
Library - Homework Hangout
 Location: Rincon Library
Homework Hangout is a free after-school program where students come on a drop-in basis to receive assistance with their homework. An adult is in the room to provide help and answer questions. We have computers to aid students in writing their reports, a color printer available for printing pictures, and supplies students may use. The hours are Mondays 3pm-5pm and Wednesdays from 2pm-5pm. All ages welcome.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Civic Center Library will host a fun performance of some classic Dr. Seuss stories. Professional actor Duffy Hudson will perform some of your favorite tales. Help us celebrate Dr. Seuss’ 111th birthday at this free show.

Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission (LAYAC)
Commissions and Committees - Youth Advisory Commission
The Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission (LAYAC) is regularly scheduled to meet on the first Monday of each month.  Meetings begin at 7:00 pm at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Avenue, Livermore, CA 94550.
