I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

This enchanting novel tells the story of seventeen-year-old Cassandra and her unusual family who live in not-so-genteel poverty in a ramshackle old English castle. Over three turbulent months, she fills three diaries with funny yet poignant entries and manages to find herself hopelessly in love. I Capture the Castle is as brightly witty and adventuresome today as it was when it was first published fifty years ago.
