NaNoWriMo Write-In
Library - Teen
Location: Civic Center Library Community Room B
National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, encourages everyone to tackle the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in one month. In support of local participating writers, the Livermore Public Library will offer its space as a novel writing zone—a place to research, write and connect with other would-be writers. Participants can gather and cheer each other on. Jake LeBeau, local writer and NaNoWriMo participant, will be hosting this last informal meet-up.

At midnight on November 1, armed only with their wits, the vague outline of a story, and a ridiculous deadline, more than 250,000 people around the world will set out to become novelists. Why? Because November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, the world’s largest writing challenge and nonprofit literary crusade. Participants pledge to write 50,000 words in a month, starting from scratch and reaching “The End” by November 30.

The Road to Global Prosperity by Michael Mandelbaum

In The Road to Global Prosperity,  Mandelbaum, one of America's leading authorities on international affairs, looks at recent developments that call into question our optimism about the world's economic future: the financial meltdown of 2008, Europe's troubled currency, the reduced growth of China, India, and other emerging nations. He shows that while the global economy will face major challenges in the years ahead, there are powerful reasons to believe that globalization will continue to make the world richer. Mandelbaum explains why globalization is both irreversible and a positive force for the United States and the world.
