2020 General Municipal Election

The General Municipal Election for the City of Livermore is held in November of even-numbered years. The City Council is comprised of four Council Members who are elected by-district and a directly elected Mayor. Council Members serve for staggered four-year terms and the Mayor serves for a term of two years. The Mayor’s seat and two Council seats will be up for election on the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Ballot. Each Council Member seat serves a four-year term with an eight consecutive year term limit and the Mayor’s seat serves a two-year term with an eight consecutive year term limit.

The November 2020 Election will be the City’s first District based election with voters in District 3 (south-east part of town) and District 4 (south-west part of town) each electing a City Council Member and all voters deciding on the Mayor’s position.

The City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month and Council Members often attend workshops on the third Monday of the month. In addition, the Mayor and Council Members are responsible for reviewing agenda packets in preparation for meetings, attending intergovernmental meetings, and participating in a variety of community events.
