Wine & Innovation Symposium
February 8, 2012
i-GATE and the City of Livermore hosted the Wine & Innovation Symposium on February 1, 2012. This event included information for California wineries export opportunities to meet high demand for wine to the city of Yingkou, located in the Dalian Region of China.
The audience enjoyed the seminars presented by Manex, U.S. Department of Commerce, and FedEx, which kicked-off the event. Following this was the Moderated Panel Discussion, where Rob White asked the panelists questions that focused on the pros and cons of exporting to China, what the wine market entails in China, and what steps need to be taken to be a successful exporter. The panelists inculded: Julie Qu (Executive Director, Dalian High-Tech Zone, North America Office), Michael Parr (VP of International Sales, Wente Family Estates), and Rod Hirsch (Director for Oakland Export Assistance Center, U.S. Department of Commerce).
A special thank you goes out to our sponsors: FedEx, Wente, and Safeway. We also want to thank Manex, U.S. Department of Commerce, Livermore Chamber of Commerce, Innovation Tri-Valley, Livermore Wine Growers Association, and Alameda County SBDC for their support and contribution.
