Amgen Tour of California – Saturday May 18th – Road Closures Update
April 19, 2013
The 2013 Amgen Tour of California bike race arrives in Livermore this Saturday, May 18th. The race will begin at 11:35 am at 3rd and K near Carnegie Park.
The limited street closures are illustrated on the Amgen Street Closure maps (to view maps, click on the link below). A small section of J and K Streets and Second and Third Streets close on Friday, May 17th at 1:00pm for the start and festival set-up. More downtown closures begin Saturday morning, May 18th, and intermittant rolling closures occur on Livermore Avenue, both in the morning at the start, and in the afternoon between 1:30pm and 3pm. Click the following link Stage 7 log to view the estimated rider arrival times. For the rolling closures, roads closed 45 minutes before estimated arrival time, and will open once all riders and support vehicles have passed. Efforts have been made to keep street closures to a minimum.
Livermore, as a Stage 7 host, benefits from the start celebration between 10:00 am and noon, the pass-through excitement along Livermore Avenue around 2:00 pm, and the “finish” festival fun 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Come meet the riders and see the team buses before the race, follow the race on the big-screen TVs, enjoy lunch downtown, and have a fun time – no matter what your age or cycling abilities!
