Tri-Valley Cities and Chambers of Commerce Announce Small Business Series

The cities of Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton and their respective Chambers of Commerce join the San Francisco office of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to host the Tri-Valley Small Business Series from May to November 2015. The series is designed to connect the region’s small businesses with local resources and to celebrate the important role that small business plays in the region.

Livermore Shows Appreciation to Local Businesses

Livermore’s Mayor Marchand recently held two receptions for top businesses in the City. Top employers and sales tax generators were recognized. The receptions provided the Mayor an opportunity to thank Livermore businesses, while also providing an informal setting in which business representatives could share their thoughts and desires with the Mayor and City staff. The Mayor expressed his appreciation for the businesses that help keep Livermore’s economy growing, allowing the City to provide public services to the community.

Livermore Tourism and Special Event Grants 2014-2015 Now Available

The City of Livermore is pleased to announce the availability of the 2014-2015 Tourism and Special Event Grants. Under this program, five (5) grants of $1000 each will be awarded to organizations that successfully demonstrate that their event will directly benefit Livermore downtown businesses and local wineries.

The City of Livermore, along with other cities in the Tri-Valley, is being featured in a 34 page spread in the February 2014 issue of US Airways Magazine that is made available to over 6 million US Airways passengers. The feature on Livermore and the valley highlights our many amenities including the City’s wine country atmosphere, arts scene, award winning downtown, premium outlet mall, parks and trails, golf courses, and other tourist attractions.

Attention Bay Area Employers! Registration for "Great Race for Clean Air" Now Open

The Great Race for Clean Air is a friendly competition between Bay Area employers to determine who will reign as the company with the best Bay Area Commuters! The competition encourages employees to use commute alternatives such as transit, carpooling, vanpooling, walking and bicycling – anything by driving alone to work! In 2012, employees at Bay Area companies saved approximately 674 tons of CO2 by using alternatives to driving alone. This is equivalent to taking 120 passenger vehicles off the road - for a year!

All job seekers are invited to attend the Countywide Information Session and Job Fair for job seekers and veterans. The event will be held at the Robert Livermore Community Center on Tuesday, October 8, 9am-12pm. The information sessions and job fair are sponsored by the Alameda County Workforce Investment Board, in collaboration with the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District and the City of Livermore. The event features networking; a panel of speakers representing employers that are actively hiring in the following industry sectors: healthcare, energy, retail, construction, and government; and also a job fair.

The committee planning the upcoming State Employment Development Department’s Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet Job and Resource Fair expects to exceed their goal of having 60 employers at the job fair as more employers sign up to participate in the event. Employers that have confirmed their participation include Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, VA Palo Alto Healthcare, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), Livermore Toyota, Akima Infrastructure Services, Top Grade Construction, AMTRAK, Fluor Corporation, Livermore Police Department, and San Francisco Police Department, among many others.

Livermore Announces New Library Director

Livermore, CA – Livermore City Manager Marc Roberts announced the appointment of Ms. Tamera LeBeau as the new Director of Library Services effective today. Ms. LeBeau served as the Assistant Library Director for the Livermore Public Library since 2006. She was selected from an incredibly competitive recruitment with forty-three applicants from various places around the country – and one international candidate.

Specific Route Details Announced For 2012 Amgen Tour Of California

LOS ANGELES (February 8, 2012) – After intense planning and careful consideration, details for the 2012 Amgen Tour of California professional road cycling race have been announced. The 2012 edition of America’s premier cycling race will feature new cities, new challenges for the world-class group of teams and riders, and breathtaking California scenery while returning to some of the fans’ and riders’ favorite California landmarks, including Big Bear Lake and Mt. Baldy. The seventh-annual event will travel more than 750 miles over eight days from May 13 – 20, 2012.

City of Livermore Selects KTVU Fox 2 to Create New Advertising Campaign

The City of Livermore has selected KTVU Fox 2 to create an innovative advertising campaign entitled "Educate, Stimulate, Innovate" which utilizes one of the newest technologies today – the QR code.

The QR code is a square barcode that smartphone owners can scan with a QR code reader app to visit specific web pages on their mobile devices. Visually, the QR code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background.

Amgen Tour of California Bike Race - Wednesday, May 18th Update

The City is excited to host the Stage 4 Start of the 2011 Amgen Tour of California on Wednesday, May 18th. The Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race. Stage 4, an 83 mile route from Livermore to San Jose, is the only 2011 Bay Area segment of the race. Festivities begin downtown at 9:00 am, and the race starts at 11:45 am.

UrbanArt Mural RFP and Sponsorship Forms Now Available

The City of Livermore Commission for the Arts has allocated $150 per program box for its UrbanArt Mural Program and is inviting all artists to apply and submit their proposals. The Commission has initially set aside a total of $750 for murals on 5 utility boxes. Sponsors have come forward to provide funds for the installation of additional murals on utility boxes throughout the City of Livermore.
