Armchair Travelers, a monthly program, will take place at the Civic Center Library on Thursday, December 12th, 1:30 p.m. Adventure travelers Jane Moorhead and Bob Heady will share photographs and stories from their two-month road trip on the Alaskan Highway this past summer. The couple visited British Columbia, Alaska, the Yukon Territory, Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. Jane and Bob are avid cyclists and hikers. They gave an Armchair Travelers presentation entitled “Patagonia and Antarctica” in July 2012.|

The Livermore Public Library will be unveiling its very own Overdrive eBook and Digital Audiobook platform on Monday, December 9. Library card holders can borrow popular digital media anytime, anywhere, for free by visiting the Livermore Public Digital Library at http://livermore.lib.overdrive.com. There will be an informal kick-off hosted in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm where library card holders can ask questions, explore the new site together, and have help getting started!|

Folksinger, storyteller, and autoharp virtuoso Adam Miller will perform well-known (and not so well-known) sing-along songs of the holiday season on Sunday, December 8, 2 p.m. at the Civic Center Public Library. There is no charge for this event. This enjoyable program for the whole family features traditional folksongs, carols for the New Year, Hanukkah, Christmas, and the Winter Solstice—from pre-Christian Europe to the 21st Century. |

Calling all film makers! Livermore Public Library invites students in grades 6-12 to create and produce an original 3 minute video to introduce our 2014 Summer Reading Program. Your audience? Students in grades K-8 and their parents. If selected, your film will be screened in school classrooms throughout Livermore and go live on the Livermore Public Library website.|
Producers: team up or go solo, write your script, put out a casting call, and let the cameras roll! Content and soundtrack must be original. What do you get out of it? Lots of fun and experience – and the producer of the winning film will receive a $100.00 gift card to Best Buy. Deadline for submittal is March 1, 2014….so get those cameras rolling and good luck!
An Information Night will be held at the Livermore Public Library, Civic Center, from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5th.

The Adventure Book Club, for children in grades 2 through 3 will meet every first and third Friday, October 4 through March 21, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. The Mystery Book Club, for children in grades 4 through 5 will meet every first and third Friday, October 4 through March 21, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. These free book clubs will meet in the Storytime Room.
Registration is not required. Bring a friend and enjoy the fun!

Civic Center Library: 1188 South Livermore Avenue, Livermore:
Drop in Craft from 10:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. October 26, December 7, and January 18.
Crafts are designed for children in grades Pre K – 5. No registration necessary.

Whether you are a seasoned writer or just starting out, join published Young Adult author J.L. Powers at Livermore Public Library for the Writing Club for Young Adults. The Club will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Thursdays, September 19, October 17, November 21, and December 19 in the Storytime Room at the Civic Center Library.|

The votes are counted and the choice has been made! Laurie King’s The Beekeeper’s Apprentice is the Livermore Reads Together selection for 2014. The Livermore community was asked to help choose the book for next year’s community reading program, Livermore Reads Together, by voting for one of four mysteries. After a fierce voting competition King’s novel, featuring a retired Sherlock Holmes and his new apprentice Mary Russell, won the day.|
