Limited Library Services Due to Computer System Upgrade
April 15, 2014  A computer system upgrade will be taking place on Wednesday, April 16. Both the Civic Center Library and the Rincon Library will be open during regular hours, but services will be limited.

Teen Volunteers Needed This Summer At The Library
April 14, 2014  The Livermore Public Library is looking for Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) to assist with the 2014 Summer Reading Program. Interested teens must be: (1) a Livermore resident, (2) entering the 6th through 11th grades in fall 2014 and (3) be able to commit to volunteering 12 hours in both months of June and July. If you are a teen who meets these requirements, the application is available now. Returning YAVs will complete this application; new YAVs will complete this application. You may also pick up copies of the application at one of the three Livermore Library branches. Completed applications must be received by 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

April 13, 2014  Libraries change people’s lives. Every day people visit libraries to search for jobs, get homework help, participate in a book club, or learn new skills. Celebrate National Library Week, April 13-19, 2014, by discovering how the Livermore Public Library can make a difference in your life! The Livermore Public Library offers free story times, computer classes, literacy services, author book talks, musical programs, and much more.

Read It! Dream It! Build It!
April 10, 2014  Calling all boys and girls in grades K-5! On April 26th, 2014, the Livermore Public Library will hold a building contest from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Children will read a story and choose a character, place, or idea from the story. Using their building toys, children will build something from that story and bring it to the Civic Center Library at 10:30 am. Children will talk about the book they read and share how they build their project. Three judges will be on hand to award prizes and certificates. A grand prize will be awarded for first place in the following age categories: Grades K-1, Grades 2- 3, Grades 4-5. Certificates will be given to all participants.

Meditation for Stress Free Living
April 10, 2014  Dr. Marshall Zaslove, a board certified psychiatrist, author and meditation practitioner for more than 40 years, will give a talk on "Meditation for Stress Free Living" on April 24, 7:00 pm, at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue. In this high-anxiety world, peace seems like an elusive commodity. Yet, within every one of us waits a ‘portable paradise,’ a garden of personal peace and joy that we can visit at will, 24-7. Dr. Marshall Zaslove, a board certified psychiatrist, author and meditation practitioner for over 40 years, offers a meditation workshop that explores and demonstrates the latest discoveries into the preventative, healing, and pain relieving effects of meditation.

Free Computer Classes in March
February 24, 2014  Whether you are new to computers or need to brush up on your skills there is a class for you at the Livermore Public Library in March. These are repeat classes from January and February. Classes are held in Community Room B and are first come, first served.

Livermore Public Library Chooses Laurie King Mystery for Livermore Reads Together 2014
News ImageSeptember 4, 2013  The votes are counted and the choice has been made! Laurie King’s The Beekeeper’s Apprentice is the Livermore Reads Together selection for 2014. The Livermore community was asked to help choose the book for next year’s community reading program, Livermore Reads Together, by voting for one of four mysteries. After a fierce voting competition King’s novel, featuring a retired Sherlock Holmes and his new apprentice Mary Russell, won the day.

Library Honors Volunteers of the Year
June 19, 2013  The Livermore Public Library has chosen Jessica L. Powers as the Library Volunteer of the Year, Tom Leonard as the Livermore READ Project Volunteer of the Year, and Lindsey Murray as the Friends of the Livermore Library Volunteer of the Year. Writing Club for Young Adults
December 31, 2013  Do you dabble in writing and want to polish your skills? Have you always longed to compose a story, poem, or play? Whether you are a seasoned writer or just starting out, join published Young Adult author J.L. Powers at Livermore Public Library for the Writing Club for Young Adults. This spring, the Club will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month until May 15, 2014.
