Coming This Fall to Livermore's Branch Libraries
August 25, 2013
Livermore Public Library’s Rincon and Springtown Branches will offer a variety of programs and services this fall, in addition to the many services offered at the Civic Center Library. Both Springtown and Rincon Branch Libraries will offer weekly storytimes for children from September 5 through December 20, 2013. The Springtown Branch Library will host storytimes on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. with “Stay and Play” until 11:30 a.m. The Rincon Branch Library will host storytimes on Fridays, including a toddler storytime at 10:30 a.m. and a preschool storytime at 11:00 a.m.
The Rincon Branch Library, located at 725 Rincon Avenue, offers a “Homework Hangout” with homework help for students of all ages on Mondays from 3-5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. during the school year. The Homework Hangout features computers for homework preparation and volunteer tutors to assist students.
The Rincon Branch’s “Lawyers in the Library” program offers free legal consultations provided by the Alameda County Bar Association on the second Monday of every month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Appointments are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children are invited to practice their reading this fall at the Rincon Branch Library by attending a drop-in session of “Paws to Read” on Fridays from 3:30-4:30 p.m., September 13 through November 15, 2013. The Paws to Read program matches elementary-aged beginner readers with trained and certified dogs in a non-judgmental environment. Drop-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and participating children should not be fearful of dogs or have allergies to pets.
The Springtown Branch Library, located at 998 Bluebell Drive, offers a service called “Easy Access.” Through keycard entry, patrons can access a portion of the library from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily to check out books, DVDs, and magazines; return items; and pick up items they have requested from the Civic Center Library. Applications for keycard access are available online and at the Civic Center and Springtown Branch Libraries.
In addition to these services, the Rincon and Springtown Branch libraries both offer a variety of books and DVDs for children, teens, and adults. For more information about events and services at the Livermore Public Library, call 925-373-5500.
