Armchair Travelers, a monthly program, will take place at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center on Thursday, March 13th, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Over the span of almost five decades, Frank and Sigrid Rainer's world travels had already taken them to the farthest extremes of Russia's north, south, and west. Last year they completed the compass with a two-month journey across the full breadth of Russia to the Far East. This was accomplished in five stages: by relaxing riverboat from St. Petersburg to Moscow; by luxury train across Siberia; by train and plane to cities in the Far East; by expedition ship through the Bering Strait into the Arctic Ocean; and by the same small ship along the volcanic Kamchatka Peninsula. Their adventures are presented in their slideshow "From Russia with My Luv.” Adults are invited to this free program on the second Thursday of each month in the Community Meeting Rooms of the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. For additional information please call 925 373-5500.
