A Visit with Ruth Colvin

The Livermore Public Library invites you to join us on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Civic Center Library for a special visit with Ruth Colvin.

Literacy luminary, Ruth Colvin, the founder of Literacy Volunteers of America (1962) and Presidential Medal of Freedom awardee - the highest civilian award of the United States (2006), was also inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame (1993) and received the U.S. President’s National Volunteer Action Award (1987). She has vast experience working with native English speaking adults and students who are learning English as a Second Language. All this and an author who has visited 62 countries, worked in 26 developing countries, actively golfs, and serves on several boards. *And* she recently celebrated her 100th birthday! In so many ways, what a delight and an inspiration!

Hear about many of her experiences, including "stories from off the beaten path" about her travels around the world and the peole she's met through her work in support of adult literacy.

It is sure to be interesting, and you may find yourself catching pearls of wisdom to inspire your very own life!
