EAST AFRICA SAFARI
ARMCHAIR TRAVELERS, a monthly program, will take place at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH at 1:30 p.m. Mike Carter will share photos and stories of his experiences in East Africa. Mike has developed a passion for East Africa. He began donating to and serving on the Board of Directors for Asante Africa Foundation, a Livermore-based nonprofit foundation supporting education in rural East Africa. In 2015 Mike took his first trip to Kenya and Tanzania to visit the foundation's students and schools, and he fell in love with the people. While he was there, Mike took his first safari in Tanzania, visiting three national parks. Mike has visited East Africa twice since then. Mike tells people: “Go to East Africa for the safari. Return for the people!” Mike works at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he is program manager for DoD Programs and serves as a member of the senior leadership staff in the NIF and Photon Science Directorate.
Adults are invited to this free program on the second Thursday of each month in the Community Meeting Rooms of the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. For additional information please call 925-373-5500.
