CHINA’S SILK ROAD: A BICYCLE JOURNEY ACROSS CHINA
ARMCHAIR TRAVELERS, a monthly program, will take place at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13TH at 1:30 p.m. Phil Mumford will present photos and stories of his bicycle journey across China. Phil is a retired teacher and avid bicycle tourist. He has done cross-country rides across Africa and the United States, ridden across the Stans, and participated in many European tours. Phil’s tour along China's Silk Road began in Shanghai, went through Xian, Dunjuang, and Turpan, and ended in Kashgar. It lasted about two months, and took his group from the agricultural and industrial areas of the east to the deserts of the west. His group camped next to the Great Wall and rode though sandstorms in the desert, following the northern route of the Silk Road.
Adults are invited to this free program on the second Thursday of each month in the Community Meeting Rooms of the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. For additional information please call 925-373-5500.
