Youth Drama Workshops with Center Stage East Bay

YOUTH DRAMA WORKSHOPS WITH CENTER STAGE EAST BAY AT THE LIVERMORE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Livermore youth are invited to attend come and learn with their peers at one of two theater classes this summer! Center Stage East Bay, a student run theater company, is putting on one theater class for children entering grades 1 through 6, and a separate theater workshop just for teenagers. The theater class for children will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., while the teen theater class will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. These drama workshops will both take place at the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue.

In the children’s theater class, participants will learn through fun theater games that are used to boost energy and build relationships to make chemistry on stage. The games focus mostly on teamwork because it is crucial for theater to work. Participants will get a chance to see stage lights, learn how they work, and get hands on with them. Lastly, the group will be taught how to write a scene that is comprehensive and fun!

The teen theater class will start with warm ups to bring up participants’ energy and ensure focus. Everyone will choose a monologue out of 10 monologues to present. Then, participants will pick an emotion to deliver their monologue in, in order to show the importance of tone, body language, diction, and volume. Everyone will receive notes and get to work with Center Stage East Bay actors.

Center Stage East Bay is a student run theater company that brings everyone together through theatrical arts. They bring technical, creative, and performing theater closer than ever by making it a family-like environment where everyone can express themselves freely. They regularly conduct workshops for ages 13 years old to 20, and for younger groups ages 8 to 12 years old.
