The City of Livermore operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Council provides overall policy direction and appoints a City Manager who is responsible for implementing adopted City policies. The City Manager’s Office is responsible for the operational activities of all City departments. It implements policies and procedures at all levels of City government to ensure the City Council’s community vision becomes reality.
The City Manager's Office implements the policy decisions and priorities of the City Council, cultivates a customer service philosophy throughout the organization, and communicates Livermore's vision and values as determined by the City Council and the community.
The City Manager acts as the chief executive officer of the City and is responsible for the operational activities of City departments; works with the City Council in the development of ordinances, resolutions, and policies to successfully execute the City Council's legislative actions; and provides public information to the community through a variety of sources including the City newsletter, the City website, and media releases.
The Assistant City Manager assists in project management and oversees administrative services including the Finance Department, Human Resources Department and the Information Technology Division.
In addition, the City Manager’s Office administers the City's website, City's newsletter, Cable Television Franchise, provides staff assistance to the Tri-Valley Community Television (TV30) Board of Directors, and the Legacy Livermore employee training and development program.
The goal of the City Manager's Office is to continue to provide exceptional service to the citizens of Livermore in implementing the City Council's policy directions.
