Get Involved...and Make a Difference!

In its recent resident survey, 93% of Livermore residents rated the City as an “excellent” or “good” place to live while 49% volunteered time to some group or activity in Livermore. Volunteers, then, contribute to the community’s high quality of life.  Do you want to make a contribution?  Three options are:  serving as a volunteer for the City of Livermore, serving on a City of Livermore advisory body, or participating in activities through the Community Service Council.

City of Livermore Volunteers
Over 1000 people volunteered their time and talents to the City in FY 2012-13.  Thank you!  Whether cleaning out creeks, marking abandoned shopping carts for retrieval, helping someone learn to read, providing clerical, information technology or social media support, or assisting with special events, volunteers make a big difference in our City.  In addition to helping your City provide more service to our community, it is a great way to build your resume.  A breakdown of volunteer efforts by department is below.  For more information about becoming a City volunteer, click here.

City Advisory Bodies and Commissions
Livermore residents are encouraged to apply for membership on the City’s numerous advisory bodies:  Airport Commission, Beautification Committee, Commission for the Arts, Historic Preservation Commission, Housing Authority, Human Services Commission, Library Board of Trustees, Planning Commission, and the Youth Advisory Commission.  For more information on these exciting opportunities to make a difference click here to visit the City Clerk's Office site for more details.

Community Service Council
The Community Service Council, a consortium of over eighty churches and non-profits, select and arrange volunteer projects during select weekends throughout the year.  To learn more about upcoming projects, visit www.justserve.org.
