The AOPA Livermore Fly-In is two full days of events for pilots and non-pilots alike, from a pancake breakfast and food trucks to free educational seminars and paid in-depth workshops. Attendees will also have a unique opportunity to see the AOPA Short Field Take-off and Landing (STOL) Invitational! Experienced pilots will use multiple aircraft to demonstrate short take-offs and landings on a turf surface located near the airport infield, in close view of the spectators. Then, be sure to stay and watch the Drone Aerial Light Show on Friday night! A fleet of no fewer than 80 drones will put on a spectacular aviation-themed show to celebrate AOPA’s 80th Anniversary. Fly-in visitors will also be able to enjoy an expansive aircraft display, exhibit hall, excursions, fly-outs to other destinations, and Trade-A-Plane Aircraft Sellers Corral. The Collings Foundation is a non-profit (501(c)3) educational foundation established in 1979. The purpose of the Collings Foundation is to organize and support "living history" events and the presentation of historical artifacts and content that enable Americans to learn more about their heritage through direct participation. The Wings of Freedom tour includes a stop at Livermore Airport, annually during the Memorial Day weekend. The tour showcases two fully restored WWII bomber aircraft; a B-24 Liberator and a B-17 Flying Fortress. Also participating in the tour is a WWII P-51C Mustang dual-control fighter aircraft. These aircraft are on display and available for viewing (fee charged). Flights are also offered (fee charged) in each of these aircraft. Visit the Collings Foundation website for more details on flights and fees. CLICK HERE. The bombers are tentatively scheduled to return to Livermore Airport on Sunday, May 27, 2018 and depart on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Arrival and departure times are not yet available, but check back later in May for more information.
The Open House & Air Show is held annually on the first Saturday of each October. CLICK HERE for more information.
Vintage Display Days are an opportunity for pilots to meet and display their aircraft of historical significance for visitors. Aircraft are displayed on the last weekend of each March, April, May, June, September, and October at the American Aircraft Sales ramp (located on Airway Blvd adjacent to Fire Station #10). For display times or information on displaying an aircraft, contact the coordinator, Leanne Anderson. Text 925-915-0120 or email Leanne@slpm.com.
A popular fundraising event for the annual Open House & Air show occurs each Thursday during the months of February, March, April, June, August, and September (from 11:30am to 1:00pm). Members of the Airport Commission and other volunteers gather at the FBO Five Rivers Aviation building to grill hot dogs, hot links, and chicken sausage. The "meal deal" includes your choice of hot dog, chips, and drink for $6.
