Welcome to the Springtown Open Space Information Page
As part of the former Springtown Golf Course property Master Planning and community input process, an Open Space Concept Plan was developed under the direction of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) and adopted by the Livermore City Council in December 2017. The Open Space Concept Plan includes a mix of open space and recreation amenities, as well as a combination of features typical of both community and neighborhood-scale parks. Since funding to implement the full Open Space Concept Plan has not been identified yet, construction of the various amenities included in the Plan will likely be phased in over time. A copy of the Open Space Concept Plan may be viewed here: Springtown Open Space Concept Plan.
As a priority, in early 2018, the ponds located on Bluebell near the Springtown Library were removed and filled. Staff then installed a new 30-40 foot landscaped buffer along Bluebell Drive to service as a temporary gateway to the Open Space until other components of the Plan can be added. The landscape improvements include an irrigation system, two decomposed granite walkways, benches, trees, plantings and decorative bark. The existing large boulders left over from the pond area were incorporated into the new design as well. All landscape features were installed using the conceptual master plan for the open space as a guide, so they can be incorporated into the final design.
