The City of Livermore has entered into an exclusive franchise agreement with Livermore Sanitation for the collection and removal of all solid waste, recyclable, and compostable materials within the city limits. The agreement allows for the removal of source-separated recyclable material and Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris by licensed and permitted haulers.

The collection of solid waste, mixed waste and compostable materials is allowed only by the franchisee, Livermore Sanitation, as required in section 8.08.270 of the Livermore Municipal Code (LMC). The permitted recyclable materials hauler may only collect recyclable materials that have been separated from solid waste. The permitted recyclable materials hauler may not charge for the collection of recyclable materials, with the exception of C&D debris, as required in section 8.08.270 of the LMC. The permitted hauler may charge for the collection and processing of C&D debris in a manner consistent with the Waste Management Plan.
