The selection process for Livermore’s next Chief of Police is underway and officially began earlier this month following the retirement of Steve Sweeney who served as Chief for five years.
The City is seeking input from the public on traits and characteristics that the next Chief of Police should possess. Feedback received will assist the City in ensuring the needs of Livermore residents and business owners are heard during the selection process.
City Manager Marc Roberts expressed his desire to engage the community throughout the process by stating, “It’s critical to hear from people across the city who interface with the Police Chief on a regular basis and deal with issues of crime and its impacts.” The City plans to use the information to help identify skills and attributes that candidates should possess to be considered for the position.
Residents can take the survey online until May 19, 2013 by going to the City’s website (www.cityoflivermore.net) and clicking on the Police Chief Community Survey under the Latest News section. The survey is also accessible through the City’s Facebook page and will be tweeted to followers of @CityofLivermore.
