Mayor's Summit on Homelessness April 30, 2014

April 11, 2014

Livermore Mayor John Marchand will host a Homeless Summit on April 30, 2014. Service providers, nonprofits, and members of the faith community will join City, County and Federal government officials to discuss how to work together as a region to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness. The Summit will feature panel presentations in the morning followed by facilitator-led breakout discussions in the afternoon. In addition to featuring a dialogue exploring how homelessness impacts individuals and communities, the Summit will provide an overview of resources available to the homeless including housing programs, veteran’s services and emergency assistance.

“We have a great faith-based community in Livermore that has been successful at sustaining homelessness,” said Mayor John Marchand. “However, homelessness is a regional issue. If we are going to be successful at lifting people out of homelessness, we will need a coordinated effort between all of these agencies and service providers. My Mayor’s Summit on Homelessness seeks to bring those resources together for the first time.”

The Summit will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Crest Blanca Ballroom at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Avenue. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
