July 12, 2013

The Today in America feature on Livermore, which aired nationally on the Discovery Channel on July 11, is now available (please click here). Today in America is a television show exclusively hosted by pro football Hall of Fame inductee, television host, author, and actor Terry Bradshaw. The show provides viewers with business news stories, lifestyle features, and in-depth interviews with newsmakers from a variety of industries, including local government.

The City of Livermore is renowned as the home of the world’s longest burning light-bulb, world’s largest laser, the state’s oldest wine region, its nationally awarded family oriented Downtown shopping district, and premium outlets. Filming took place at various locations earlier this year on January 26, 2013. Locations include the Robert Livermore Community Center, Downtown Livermore, i-GATE Innovation Hub facility, and Wente Vineyards. Interviews regarding what makes Livermore special were also conducted on the same day. Mayor John Marchand, City Manager Marc Roberts, Wente Family Estates Fifth Generation Winegrower Christine Wente, and Livermore Downtown Inc. President Rachael Snedecor were among those interviewed.

Mayor Marchand proudly spoke about Livermore in his interview. "I am proud to be the Mayor of Livermore. This video showcases our remarkable city and the many amenities that we have to offer such as our wineries, open space, high technology, and unique quality of life.” Referring to the video segment, Mayor Marchand added that “it also serves as a critical tool for economic development, and it effectively communicates Livermore’s story to those outside our region.”
