ALL AGES INVITED TO PLAY THE LIVERMORE READS TOGETHER GEOCACHING ADVENTURE
What is geocaching? It is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game that makes use of GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates on a GPS device or GPS-enabled smartphone.
The Livermore Reads Together Geocaching Adventure is a fun game for all ages that begins February 11, 2018 and concludes on February 25, 2018. Hoppy the Kangaroo has hidden five geocache containers, or caches, in various locations around Livermore. Inside each container are the clue and coordinates for the next cache. The goal is to locate the successive caches. When all five caches are found, turn in the completed game sheet at the Livermore Civic Center Library Information Desk for a chance to win a Tool-A-Long Sasquatch Multi-Tool, or the grand prize of a $60 gift card for Any Mountain! Raffle winners will be chosen on February 28, 2018.
Begin playing February 11th! Pick up a game sheet at any Livermore Public Library branch, or download it here.
Almost any free mapping app will work for this game. For an Android phone, use Google Maps; for an Apple device, use the Maps app, or Google Maps. Just enter the coordinates and the app will show the distance and relative location to the cache. The Google Maps website (maps.google.com) can also be used to enter the coordinates and map the location.
