The Planning Commission advises the City Council on the adoption and on-going review of the General Plan for the physical growth of the City. The Plan, in conjunction with the Development Code, guides the general location of future public facilities, private buildings and improvements.
The Commission has specific responsibilities in the administration of the Development Code, including decisions or recommendations on subdivision of land and other development projects. The Commission is also responsible for ensuring development projects meet the City’s Design Standards and Guidelines.
In addition, the Commission promotes public interest in planning and encourages citizen participation in the formulation of land use policies. The commissioners also acquaint the public with problems and solutions relating to the local physical environment.
Preference is for applicants to have demonstrated ability in the area of design by virtue of avocation, vocation, talent, and interest in design, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field. Applicants are required to have attended at least one meeting of the Planning Commission prior to submitting an application. Meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays each month at 7:30 pm, Council Chambers, 3575 Pacific Avenue, Livermore. The City is contemplating a change in the start time for the regular Planning Commission meetings.
Interested parties are invited to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 5:30 pm, followed by a regular Planning Commission meeting at 7:30 pm, Council Chambers, 3575 Pacific Avenue, Livermore.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at a special meeting on February 21, 2019.
