The Livermore City Council invites the community to the 7th Annual Livermorium Day celebration on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Livermorium Plaza at Mills Square Park (116 S. Livermore Ave. – corner of First St. and S. Livermore Ave.).
The program will include guest speakers, award presentations, the youth band “Element 116,” and light refreshments.
In June 2013, Mayor John Marchand established Livermorium Day in May to recognize the creation of chemical element 116, which was named in honor of the City and a team of scientists from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory who collaborated with a team from Russia. Livermore is one of only six cities in the world for which an element has been named that appears on the Periodic Table of Elements.
