Summer is in full swing....and so is the City!  In this issue, learn about the City's economic and development upswing from two recent programs designed to communicate the exciting Livermore story, or swing to music at the Livermore Downtown, Inc. Taste of Downtown event in early August.  Finally, enjoy the swing of the baseball bat as hitters swing for the fences at Max Baer Park during the Intermediate Little League World Series beginning July 30th.  Marc

State of the City Address --  Mayor John Marchand presented the annual State of the City address on June 27, 2013 to community leaders and residents at the Robert Livermore Community Center.  Sponsored by the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, the program was taped by Tri-Valley Community Television.  Tune into Comcast TV channels 29 and 30, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 or stream the video at  You'll hear updates on residential and commercial projects, transportation improvements, how you can make a difference in the community and more.

Today in America --Livermore was highlighted on the Discovery Channel's "Today in America" program on July 11th.  This program, hosted by Terry Bradshaw, offers business news stories, lifestyle features, and in-depth interviews with newsmakers from a variety of industries including local government.  The five-minute piece focused on our vibrant downtown, excellent wine heritage, our innovation efforts, and more.  To view the Livermore segment, go to  See how many people you recognize in the video that serves as another tool for the City's economic development efforts.

Little League World Series --Max Baer Park in Livermore is the site of the inaugural Intermediate Little League World Series from July 30th - August 5th. This new division features players from ages 11-13 and a bigger field with a 50-foot pitching distance and 70 feet between bases.  Ten teams, six U.S. and four international squads, will vie to play in the championship game on Monday, August 5th that will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 4 pm.  Games are free, so grab your bleacher cushion and say hello to the players, their families and coaches.

Taste of Downtown--Attention all foodies...Livermore Downtown, Inc. presents this popular annual event on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th from noon - 5 pm.  In addition to the gastronomical delights via the food and wine stroll, live music and horse-drawn carriage rides contribute to a fun, leisurely afternoon.  Tickets can be purchased for food tasting only, wine and food, or wine, food, and an official wine glass.  For more details, visit
