Driving around the Valley just got a little easier... Stoneridge Drive is now complete.  Have you checked your smoke alarm lately?  And it's not too early to plan to shop local for the holidays.  See below for more details, and remember, City Hall is closed on Monday due to Veteran's Day.  Thanks to all Livermore veterans -- and your families -- for your service and sacrifice.  Marc

Veteran's Day -- Monday, November 11th is Veteran's Day -- a day to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.  This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice.  Tri-Valley Veteran's Day events were held last weekend.  However, it is never too late to personally thank veterans in the community for their service, and many business establishments, like Starbucks, are saying think you via free cups of coffee or meals.

Stoneridge Drive Completion --Stoneridge  Drive now directly connects Pleasanton and Livermore. The final piece between Santa Rita Road and El Charro Road opened on November 1st with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Pleasanton.  This critical link between the two cities in now complete with sidewalks and bicycle lanes, and facilitates access from Jack London Boulevard in Livermore to Santa Rita Road (and beyond) in Pleasanton.  So, check it out by car, bike or foot.

Smoke Alarm Batteries -- It's time to check the batteries in both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.  Also, if your smoke alarm is over ten years old, it should be replaced as it becomes much less sensitive over time.  According to the National Fire Protection Association, almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in places without working smoke alarms.  Alarms ideally should be tested monthly, but getting into a maintenance routine around the time changes could help your family stay safe.

Earlier than the Bird -- How often can you shop in your pajamas?  The 9th Annual "Earlier Than the Bird" event is Saturday, November 23rd from 7 am - 11 am in Downtown Livermore.  Get a head start on holiday shopping at downtown shops and boutiques.  Grab breakfast with a friend or family member at one of the many downtown eateries.  For more details, visit or call Livermore Downtown Inc. at 925-373-1795.  Shop local -- keep the sales tax dollars here and support Livermore proprietors.
